About Us

At the Regent University Department of Theatre Arts we invite our Great Creator to take center stage and reveal His most profound truths as deposited in written drama and expressed through the power and passion of live performance.

The Department of Theatre Arts seeks theatre artists who share in this vision—a vision that seeks to shake the world of the theatre to its very core; a vision that embraces the mission of positively impacting upon the art form, the academy and the industry from the inside out.

Whether you act, direct, sing, dance, or write in the Department of Theatre Arts you will be stretched, challenged and nurtured into being the best you can possibly be as both an artist and a child of God. For it is you, your unique voice expressed through your art form, that will determine the future of the theatre and future of our culture

A Statement of Position on Theatre at Regent University

It is the Regent University Department of Theatre Arts' position that we are called to tell stories both descriptive and prescriptive in nature. The stories we present onstage may serve to edify and show us how best to live our lives, or serve to warn us, to steer us away from danger.

Our artistic aim is to creatively produce dramatic works that entertain while simultaneously presenting many of the universal truths God has revealed to us through the human condition. When creative works point people or move people toward God and away from the sinful state of the human condition, those works take on a redemptive quality.

It is our position that truth is ultimately redemptive. This does not mean that truth is devoid of trials, hardship, cruelty, conflict or behavior that may on occasion make us uncomfortable. That being said, the revelation of truth can be a cause for celebration—both joyous and liberating. We invite you to join us in embracing the words of our Lord when He said, "You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free." (John 8:32)
