Christian relief and development organizations have proliferated with the purpose of responding to the increasing global needs. In a restricted and competitive environment, only few organizations manage to survive and garner public support. A comparative analysis was conducted to determine the characteristics of organizational excellence that organizations display in order to succeed in their environment. Successful organizations display higher levels of mission excellence, administrative excellence, excellence in resource development, programmatic excellence, and leadership excellence than most organizations in the Christian relief and development sector. The integrative models of organizational excellence used for secular nonprofit organizations are also useful for Christian ministries.
