Regent Conducts Second Phase of National Entrepreneurship Training Program in Peru
Business Plan Development
November 27, 2007
Program participants gather in Lima, Peru to begin second entrepreneurship training session.
Virginia Beach, Va. – More than 400 young Christian entrepreneurs recently completed the second session of a national training program in Lima, Peru called "The Kingdom Entrepreneurs" developed by the Regent University School of Global Leadership & Entrepreneurship.
Participants were selected from a pool of 800 people who completed the first Kingdom Entrepreneurs session and who scored highest in an online test based on content from the first session.
The Kingdom Entrepreneurs program is part of an extensive GLE entrepreneurship development project that resulted from a meeting with Peruvian President Alan Garcia late last year. The program is designed specifically for young adults interested in entrepreneurship and individuals planning to launch new business initiatives as a way of overcoming the country’s unemployment rate and slow micro economic development.
Professor Roberto Collazos, an experienced instructor at PROBIDE, a Peruvian non-profit organization devoted to entrepreneurship development, and a professor at San Ignacio Loyola University, was hired by Regent University to teach the second session, which focused on developing a business plan.
The session addressed the elements of a business plan and how to produce a comprehensive and effective plan. In addition, participants analyzed case studies and drafted their own business plans during the workshop portion of this event.
Each participant was invited to fully develop their business plan and then submit it for evaluation. Of those plans submitted, the authors of the best 50 business plans will be invited to participate in the third and final session of the program scheduled for December 8.
This third session will be taught by Regent M.A. in Organizational Leadership alumnus Doug Fike and his wife Charlene. Both have extensive experience in managing small businesses and will focus this third session on how to lead and manage a small business.
Following the final session, an evaluation committee will select five participants with the most promising and feasible business plans. Each of them will receive grant funding to assist them in launching their new businesses. Winners will be announced in February 2008.
