Regent School to Feature Foremost Authority on Government Policy
Forecasting at Foresight 2007
August 27, 2007
Graham Molitor
Virginia Beach, Va. – The Regent University School of Global Leadership & Entrepreneurship (GLE) will feature Graham Molitor, one of the foremost authorities on forecasting government policy, at the Founders Inn & Spa on September 20 during the Foresight 2007 portion of its Doctor of Strategic Leadership (DSL) residency. The public is invited to join third-year DSL students at this event and can register online at: www.regent.edu/foresight.
According to Jay Gary, director of GLE's M.A. in Strategic Foresight program, “Molitor is one of the premier first-generation futurists, in the mold of Alvin Toffler, Daniel Bell or Herman Kahn. It’s an honor to have him speak at Regent.”
Molitor has been a consultant to nearly 200 organizations including Fortune 500 companies, business and professional associations, domestic and foreign governments, and research organizations ranging from Harvard and MIT to Arthur D. Little and the Hudson Institute.
Molitor currently serves as president of Public Policy Forecasting and is the former vice president/legal counsel of the World Future Society. His expertise spans the government policy issue spectrum and includes broad experience as a lawyer, lobbyist, political campaign strategist, university professor, author, forecaster/futurist and business owner/executive, which have given him the opportunity to serve in elective, appointive or advisory capacities in each branch of the U.S. government.
Editor of the Encyclopedia of the Future (1996), Molitor is the author of more than 100 journal articles and essays on social and technological forecasting, as well as his book, The Power to Change the World: The Art of Forecasting (2003).
While at Regent, Molitor will present the following 30-minute lectures throughout the day: Scanning the Environment, Framing the Issues, Advancing the Issues, Resolving the Issues, Cyclical Patterns, Bellweather Jurisdiction and the Next Five Economic Eras.
"Participants will come away with new approaches and methods to scan the horizon for change, helping their organizations respond, rather than react to turbulent events," said Gary.
Foresight 2007, hosted by Gary and the School of Global Leadership & Entrepreneurship, provides a forum for interaction and discussion with leading futurists from around the world. Featured presenters have included Dr. Richard Slaughter, president of the World Futures Studies Federation; Brian McLaren, emergent church leader; Dr. Wendy Schultz, Fulbright Scholar in Futures Studies; and others.
