MBA alumnus Adrian Blanco has received the Harvey C. Russell Award from PepsiCo for his work on securing a $150,000 grant from the PepsiCo Foundation to assist underprivileged Hispanic students through a non-profit community center in Kansas City, MO.
The Harvey C. Russell Award recognizes outstanding achievement in advancing diversity and inclusion at PepsiCo and is given to those who go beyond their job function to assist in a community project.
"I must say that it wouldn't have been possible if I didn't learn the servant leadership skills that I got from Regent, along with God's work on blessing me with unbelievable favor," said Blanco.
In 2009, this distinct honor was only given to 88 people out of 150,000 eligible employees worldwide. Blanco was one of only six award recipients who received an individual award while the other 82 recipients were awarded as teams.
In addition to receiving the Harvey C. Russell Award, Blanco was awarded PepsiCo's distinguished "Ring of Honor" in June, which is given to PepsiCo's top sales persons worldwide following a lengthy performance and nomination process of more than two years. According to Blanco, approximately 400 out of 175,000 eligible employees worldwide received this award in 2009.
When asked about his successes at PepsiCo, Blanco shared that he focuses on doing his job well and serving others. "If your goal is to go out and impact and perform the servant leadership role, then the results take care of themselves."
Blanco received his MBA from Regent's School of Global Leadership & Entrepreneurship in 2008 where he participated as the first online member of Regent's Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Team. He is currently a national account sales manager for Pepsi Cola North America and continues to seek various opportunities in which he can assist others through non-profit and entrepreneurial ventures.
