Ph.D. Alumnus Awarded Contract to Train Sr. Executives in U.S. Government
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - As former U.S. Army Colonel and graduate of Regent University's Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership program, Dr. Byron Cherry has invested decades into the study and practice of leadership. Now, Cherry has the opportunity to train some of the most influential leaders of our time — executives in the U.S. Government.
In 2007, Cherry founded Succeed to Lead, LLC (STL) and has quickly earned a reputation for excellence in the field of leadership. Utilizing a cadre of seasoned leadership experts and business consultants to address a myriad of organizational challenges, STL has experienced rapid growth since its launch and has conducted projects for both national and international organizations. In fact, Cherry was recognized in LegalZoom.com's Entrepreneur Spotlight in 2007.
Cherry and his organization will partner with the Government Technology Research Alliance (GTRA) to provide a series of leadership forums and workshops for senior level federal government executives throughout 2009 and beyond.
While serving as a military officer, Cherry saw a need for leadership training, mentoring and career development at all levels. According to Cherry, "Many younger and middle management military and civilian personnel were not getting the proper mentoring, guidance and leadership from the senior leaders."
In this new partnership, STL, will work with GTRA to assist those government executives who are actively seeking to grow professionally and who desire to benefit their organizations.
According to Cherry, the primary goal of this partnership is "to work with organizations and their leadership in helping them understand their role(s) as executives and leaders when it comes to leading people and their organizations," which is something he gained from being a student in the School of Global Leadership & Entrepreneurship at Regent.
Having commanded three times prior to beginning his doctoral work at Regent, Cherry was already an excellent leader, but, according to Cherry, his educational pursuits at Regent helped him to "better understand people and organizations and the important role they play in all levels of government."
With the motto: "Your success is our success," Cherry's vision for STL was to lead an organization that would provide proper leadership and executive level training for all levels of leadership, especially the executive level.
That vision quickly became a reality and flourishes today as STL continues to provide the tools, resources, training and consulting to build organizations and develop employees across the business infrastructure.
