Dr. David Gyertson returned to Regent University ( Virginia ) in July 2005 as Distinguished Professor of Leadership Formation and Renewal.

In addition he holds an appointment as Senior Fellow of the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities in Washington, DC providing consultation and research services in leadership communications.

Dr. Gyertson has a broad and varied background in higher education, publishing, consulting, executive coaching, ministry and media. He has held senior leadership positions in religious, charitable and business environments, including international and cross-cultural settings.

Dr. Gyertson holds a Ph.D. from Michigan State University with a major in higher education administration and management. His graduate studies include work in adult education, higher education, counseling, organizational communications, innovation theory and college student personnel services. Dr. Gyertson pursued his undergraduate studies at Spring Arbor University ( Mich. ), graduating with a BA in philosophy-religion and psychology. Additional graduate work in comparative higher education was done at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto ( Ontario , Canada ).

Before returning to Regent, Dr. Gyertson was President of Taylor University (Indiana) for five years and Asbury College ( Kentucky ) for seven years. Prior to going to Asbury he was one of the founding administrators and then President of Regent University, a free standing Christian graduate university in Virginia, where he is now on the faculty of the School of Global Leadership & Entrepreneurship. Dr. Gyertson also served the Christian Broadcasting Network in a variety of management, leadership, publishing and broadcasting roles between 1985 and 1992

Dr. Gyertson has extensive experience within the field of higher education holding positions in student development, enrollment management, advancement and the presidencies of three colleges & universities as well as two charitable education foundations. He has been a faculty member in several disciplines including speech communications, educational foundations, church history, management and leadership development.

He has presented over 3000 lectures, speeches and sermons publishing numerous articles in a variety of popular magazines and professional journals. He was the General Editor of Living by the Book a 20 volume biblical and contemporary Christian issues study curriculum published in cooperation with Zondervan Publishers by CBN Publishing (1990). In addition he was the Editor of Salt & Light: A Christian Response to Contemporary Issues (Word Publishers 1990) and the revised edition of One Divine Moment: The Story of the Asbury Revival (1995) . He is the host of Canadian Edition a weekly half hour television news, information and ministry program broadcast cost-to-coast on Canada 's Vision Television Network.

Dr. Gyertson served on the boards of the Christian College Consortium (a past chairman), Christian University GlobalNet, the Council of Independent Colleges of Indiana and the Marion Community Hospital ( Indiana ). He was featured in the 2000 TEMPLETON GUIDE: Colleges that Encourage Character Development . Gyertson holds ordination credentials with the Free Methodist Church and has served as senior minister for the Kingsview Free Methodist Church in Toronto , Ontario , Canada , and the Kempsville Presbyterian Church (EPCA) in Virginia Beach , Virginia . He and his wife Nancy, a retired elementary school teacher, have a daughter Andrea who lives in Los Angeles , California with her husband and her daughter.
