Course Requirements & Course Map:
M.A. in Church Leadership

Our Master of Arts in Church Leadership will equip you with a biblical education firmly grounded in organizational leadership required in today's ministry settings. You'll be prepared for a transformational leadership career, with sought-after skills in motivating teams, strategic thinking, spiritual formation, and corporate and personal ethics.

By the end of our holistic M.A. in Church Leadership program, you will be able to:

  • Motivate and mentor your team and to communicate effectively in large, small, formal and informal settings.
  • Apply Christian leadership development practices to guide others with wisdom in church and community settings.
  • Understand the value of strategic thinking and planning to overcome resistance to change.

While all students pursuing the M.A. in Church Leadership must complete 33 credit hours, it is the demonstration of independent scholarly ability at the master's level, rather than the mere accumulation of credits, that is required to successfully complete the program. The program is structured as follows:

  • 15 credit hours of required core courses
  • 15 credit hours of elective courses
  • 3 credit hours of culminating experience

The M.A. in Church Leadership program features 8-week courses, offering much flexibility in developing your course schedule. You must complete all program requirements (33 credit hours) within 5 years from the first term of enrollment. One 3-credit-hour course will require about 15-18 hours of work per week. The 8-week courses may be taken simultaneously or concurrently within each semester.

If you have any questions please contact the program's director, Dr. Steve Firestone, at sfirestone@regent.edu.
