EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP BEST PRACTICES
July 8, 2010
Seminar Overview
This seminar is based on the best-selling leadership book The Leadership Challenge, by Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner. Kouzes and Posner’s Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership® (modeling the way, inspiring a shared vision, challenging the process, enabling others to act and encouraging the heart) will be discussed in detail with information on how these behaviors dramatically affect the success and effectiveness of leadership. Participation in this seminar also includes the completion of the Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI), a 360-degree assessment instrument created by Kouzes and Posner to assess the five exemplary leadership practices by the using individual, peer and subordinate feedback. This tool is useful in providing a baseline for continuous improvement with leadership development or leadership coaching goals. Research indicates that the LPI has very strong reliability and validity. It remains one of the most widely used 360-degree leadership assessment instruments with assessments completed by more than 250,000 leaders and nearly one million observers worldwide.
This seminar will help you develop strategies and skills that will enable you to:
:: Find your leadership voice and how to set an example for others.
:: Discover how you can inspire a shared vision by envisioning the future and enlisting others to join you in the journey.
:: Challenge the process by searching for opportunities and delving into experimentation and risk-taking.
:: Enable others to act, specifically how to foster collaboration and strengthen others.
:: Encourage the heart by being able to recognize and celebrate the contributions of others.
