Leadership at the University

  • Serves as chief executive of Regent University.
  • Main duty: provides focus and direction for the institution and recommends appropriate policies to the board of trustees, and represents the institution and interprets its mission and purposes to its various constituencies, as well as provides leadership in developing the resources and assuring the fiscal viability of the university.
  • Serves as a member of the board and its executive committee.
  • Submits an annual report to the board concerning the work, condition and needs of the university and any other matters pertinent to the institution or to the cause of higher education.
  • Recruits and develops a first-rate administrative team with whom he works to establish a strong, cohesive community within the university.
  • Has ultimate control of the university's fund-raising activities.
  • Calls and presides at meetings of the faculty except as otherwise provided in the bylaws of the university.
  • Insures that the regulations and policies of the trustees affecting the administration and work of the university are observed.
  • Recommends the appointment of all members of the faculty to the board and, except as otherwise provided for in the bylaws, appoints all committees thereof, maintaining veto power of any action of any faculty, or committee, or agency of the faculty.
